Israel: Revolution or Referendum
Published in Hardcover by Barricade Books (August, 1991)
Author: Meir Kahane
Average review score:

A haunting insight into Israel's future
Meir Kahane wrote this book about 2 years into the first intifada of 1987. He never lived to see Oslo, any subsequent agreements, or the 2000 Al-Aksa Intifada. But you wouldn't know that just by reading this book; the words he wrote over 10 years ago ring true now more than ever.

The thesis of this book is simple: the Israeli government has become an obtuse, impotent entity that is unwilling to protect its citizens. This situation will not continue because it simply cannot, but will the change come about through revolution or referendum?

The majority of this book is anecdotal; that is, Kahane illustrates his point through voluminous tales of government hpyocracy, cover-ups, and the like. He cites, for example, many incidents where Israelis are jailed for using lethal force against Arabs when the Israelis themselves are in real mortal danger.

As a Zionist and seeker of truth, I say that this is a must-read. Kahane wrote to make people emotional and uncomfortable, and this does just that.

The journal of Andrew Ellicott
Published in Unknown Binding by Arno Press ()
Author: Andrew Ellicott
Average review score:

Ellicott's Journal
A wonderful reference for anyone attempting to reconstruct the landscape of the United States in the late 18th Century, particularly the North Central Gulf Coast. Ellicott's line (31st parallel) divided the United States from Spanish West Florida. He describes the topography in detail and the journal includes his interaction with both the Americans and Spanish citizens. Most useful.

The book "Love Has No Boundries" had the biggest impack on my life that any book has every had. I wish that I still had the book so I could read it again. The story line was captivating and the style the book was very interesting. The entire book was expressive, for example, the book was written on pink paper and in purple type. The storyline was beautiful. I recommend this book to anyone with a heart.

The Mathematical Theory of Finite Element Methods
Published in Hardcover by Springer Verlag (12 April, 2002)
Authors: Susanne C. Brenner and L. Ridgway Scott
Average review score:

a nice introductory book
This book is a very nice introductory book on the subject. It has a very nice presentation of the fundamental issues on finite element theory, such as interpolation theory on Sobolev spaces and variational formulations of elliptic problems. Also, it covers some advanced and more specific subjets such as multigrid methods and mixed methods for fluid mechanics, where it reviews some of the most used techniques to solve the saddle-point problems such as Augmented Lagrangian techniques and penalty methods.

Also, at the end of the book there is a very well written chapter focused on Interpolation operators, where there is a very nice (and very easy to read) presentation of the Sccot-Zhang interpolation operator, and some of the principal results on approximation.

Resuming, it is a very recomendable book in the subjet, specially recomendable for mathematics students interested on finite elements, and researchers in the field.

Modeling Axisymmetric Flows: Dynamics of Films, Jets, and Drops
Published in Hardcover by Academic Press (August, 1995)
Author: Stanley Middleman
Average review score:

Excellent textbook for novices and experts
This book is both extremely clear and quite detailed. Its the kind of book you can use as a novice to the field to see the examples and approach to modelling, or that you can use as a reference book if modelling fluid flow is your thing.

Most modelling fluid flow textbooks start wity infinite resevior, not small scale drops and flows covered here. Well written, well structure, technically excellent.

No Boundary: An Illuminating Overview of Eastern and Western Approaches to Personal Growth
Published in Paperback by Great Eastern Book Co (December, 1979)
Author: Ken Wilber
Average review score:

Best Book I Ever Read
I think this is the best book I've ever read (mainly speaking of non-fiction). Mr. Wilber explores, explains and eliminates all the illusory boundaries that we humans create, both within ourselves and between ourselves and the "rest of" the universe. Have trouble understanding the concept of "oneness"? Ken describes the whole concept in ways I've never forgotten (I read the book about 16 years ago). He not only explores the existence and creation of those boundaries but gives practical methods of eliminating them, utilizing a variety of techniques and explanations, although realizing that those boundaries are there and beginning to understand them is a huge first step. This book introduced me to the Gospel of Thomas in addition to giving me a new understanding of the book of Genesis (from the Bible, duh) and some of its many underlying nuances. This book was very hard to read; sometimes I would read a page and have to put it down, not because it is written in a confusing way but because the concepts are so beautifully complex and numbingly mindblowing. And Mr. Wilber brings them to light. My conciousness (or lack thereof :) has never been the same after reading this book. In my opinion this book is required reading for everyone, especially if you want to understand yourself and the universe. Oh but I guess that's the same thing.

North Carolina Atlas of Historical County Boundaries
Published in Hardcover by Charles Scribners Sons/Reference (October, 1998)
Authors: John H. Long, Gordon Denboer, and Charles Scribners Publishing
Average review score:

A must book for genealogical Research
This book is the best I have ever seen for showing the chronology of county boundary changes. The maps not only show the changing boundaries vs time, but show the location of the various cities, rivers, creeks, etc. A great book for genealogists with ancestors in North Carolina.
